SINGAPORE — Declaring that “Singaporeans deserve more options and better coverage plans,” local hustler Kesley Tan, 32, officially announced her run as an independent candidate in the 2025 General Elections — a move political analysts say is less about public service and more about aggressively growing her Instagram following for her booming insurance-real estate-financial planning sideline.

“I’m here to serve the people,” Kesley said at her press conference, standing in front of a giant banner plastered with her Telegram group link and QR codes for a free property webinar. “Also, please like and share my latest reel on CPF optimisation hacks.”

Campaign promises included wildly ambitious proposals such as “freehold housing for everyone” and “life insurance bundles with every successful HDB resale application.” Observers noted that every speech ended with Kesley reminding citizens to DM her for a non-obligatory financial consultation.

“Running for office gives me the platform to really connect with my target demographic,” Kesley said while posing for a TikTok dance outside Yishun MRT. “Nothing says ‘trust me with your retirement savings’ like a gal who nearly became MP.”

At press time, Kesley was seen handing out name cards with the slogan “Your Future, My Commission” while soliciting votes and investments at a hawker centre.
